That depends....the forum will need your clinical history to answer.

For now, the Lupron basically shuts down production of testosterone from the testicles, medical castration. As T is a "fuel" for PCa, those cells generally die off, though not all. Why, some PCa cells adapt to a low T environment. Thus the introduction and use of Xtandi, an ARI, or androgen receptor inhibitor which interferes (blocks) with the PCa's cell ability to bind with and use the remaining T, some of which is produced by the adrenal gland which Lupron does not block.

That's a layman's version, keep in mind I am not a medical professional.

You are absolutely right. I took Eligard and Xtandi together. At the time , it had to be that way. Could not take Xtandi alone. My urologist told me recently that there is data suggesting Xtandi could be used alone.

Your urologist may be talking about the EMBARK Study - https://www.urotoday.com/video-lectures/aua-2023/video/3356-embark-trial-shows-promising-results-for-high-risk-prostate-cancer-treatment-enzalutamide-s-impact-on-metastasis-free-survival-neal-shore.html#:~:text=The%20study's%20primary%20endpoint%20was,a%2037%25%20reduction%20in%20risk.

It's intriguing, the idea of an ARI monotherapy which would mean no castration thus potentially mitigating the associated SEs with that, though ARI monotherapy would not be w/o SEs.
