Yes. I've had those tests multiple times.

I didn't need approval. The doctor wrote the script, I had it done at a lab, the lab submitted it, it was covered.

Sometimes it can be difficult. The endocrinologist I see sends the order it with "statement of medical necessity." I still sign an ABN--advanced notice of non payment with every draw, but then they pay. Medicare Advantage Plans vary by state. Are you with original Medicare. Some doctors don't see bone markers as useful or necessary and won't fill out the statement.

I have Medicare + Medigap, not Medicare Advantage, so maybe that is the difference.

Is the “ABN--advanced notice of non payment with every draw” signed when blood is drawn at Lab Corp?

06111945cc, I had the same experience - no problem getting it covered and I went to Lab Corps.
