Sometimes it can be difficult. The endocrinologist I see sends the order it with "statement of medical necessity." I still sign an ABN--advanced notice of non payment with every draw, but then they pay. Medicare Advantage Plans vary by state. Are you with original Medicare. Some doctors don't see bone markers as useful or necessary and won't fill out the statement.

Yes. I've had those tests multiple times.
How did you get it approved?
I didn't need approval. The doctor wrote the script, I had it done at a lab, the lab submitted it, it was covered.

njx58, are you on original Medicare? Who is your md?
I have Medicare + Medigap, not Medicare Advantage, so maybe that is the difference.
I have original Medicare.

Is the “ABN--advanced notice of non payment with every draw” signed when blood is drawn at Lab Corp?
What lab did you use
06111945cc, I had the same experience - no problem getting it covered and I went to Lab Corps.
