Does anyone here have prostate cancer due to contracting HPV 16?
My wife past way 2 years ago. I have never had a major medical problem in my life, now my PSA numbers are at 6.3. The last test, 3 years ago was 2.7 . I read that there may be a relationship between the two.
I welcome your input.

Regardless of the HPV, 2.7 to 6.3 in two years indicates that you should at least start investigating this via MRI and biopsy! You can determine causality later, but anything over 4 is concerning and a more than 100% jump in two years would be a big red flag to most urologists.
Your PSA is definitely elevated. You could do a PSE test to see if you’ve got cancer, that can avoid an unnecessary biopsy.
You definitely needs to do something about this. Get another PSA test in about a month and see if it’s gone up more.
BPH can also cause a high PSA.
I had the biopsy yesterday, I emailed the urologist to ask if they can use the tissue to see if it contains HPV 16
DNA.
I wasn’t told of the PSE test?
I was retested a month after the first test and it was the same.
I hadn’t thought about it possibly being related to HPV till last night.
I had the biopsy yesterday, 7 days for results.
I didn’t think about a connection till last night . It’s not common, but it is suspected to cause prostate cancer.
Well, I have always wondered about this myself. If HPV16 can cause cervical, anal and oral cancer why not prostate cancer as well?
The problem is that the presence of HPV DNA in the prostate does NOT indicate causation for cancer….merely correlation or association.
They have never - to my knowledge - done screening in which every biopsy also tested for the presence of HPV. If they did they could then compare the Gleason scores to see if higher scores were gotten in those samples containing HPV. That would be a good starting point, at least.
But whether or not you have HPV (I assume you do because your late wife did) doesn’t change the next steps in diagnosis, nor does it portend a poorer outcome if it turns out that you do have cancer.
Remember, not all HPV infections lead to cancer - tens of millions of people globally are positive for HPV, but only a small percentage get cancer. Best

Your PSA rise is almost exactly how mine rose, 3 to a 6 and from a 6 to a 12. My first biopsy @ 6 came back benign. At 12 they did a PSE and then the second biopsy. Now I have prostate cancer. Please take all our advice and get a PSE blood test. It could save your life.
Thank you. What was the time frame between the two PSE test?
It runs in my family, my father just finished his second round of treatment. I’m just the youngest to have problems at 59.
I do believe, from my research, that HPV 16/18 neg, will be cancerous. She was treated in her 20s. I’ve read through her doctors notes and they were unsure why she had cancer in her throat at 28, but they noted HPV in the notes with a question mark. Now all info regarding HPV16/18 negative does say it will become cancerous. But she went 24 years before it came back in the exact same location.
I only had one PSE. My PSA tests were 6 months apart.
I am in a similar position. Father died of prostate cancer, I got it at 62. My brother got it at 76. I got BRCA2 from my mother and that’s probably why I got it younger than my brother. I know A couple of guys who have two brothers all have prostate cancer, no genetic anomalies.
Did you got a hereditary, genetic test. Your getting cancer so young could be genetic. You can get the test free at the below site as long as you live in the United States. Don’t Pick the option for your doctor to be involved. They won’t send you the kit until they speak to your doctor. A geneticist will call you to discuss the results in abouft three weeks.
