Does anyone have any questions about papillary thyroid cancer?

Posted by lindaadele @lindaadele, Aug 30, 2025

I am a 25 year survivor of papillary thyroid cancer and have been volunteering for many years answering many questions from people who have papillary thyroid cancer and have questions about it. I would be happy to answer any questions from people who have concerns about thyroid cancer.

@colleenyoung this new cancer therapy sounds so so complicated to me maybe too complicated! If it were me and I was really considering it as a good option for my thyroid cancer I would probably want to go to a really really fantastic thyroid cancer doctor and get their opinion!!!

Hi, This was very nice of you to offer your help!
I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer 2 1/2 yrs ago, and am not a good candidate for surgery. Immunotherapy, nutrition, prayer, and a healthy lifestyle have helped a lot and my tumor numbers are down! I'm paused on Keytruda due to side effects and am curious about CAR-T clinical trials for thyroid cancer at Mayo Clinic. I heard about it through an article (can't post the link cause I'm a new member), but it's entitled: Unleashing CAR-T cell therapy to destroy solid tumors in thyroid cancer.

Anyone have more information about this trial? Thank you!

@rashida those are the same symptoms I was having on Levothyroxine. I have started on Synthroid 3 days ago and already have some improvement. Did you have any insomnia?

@bellarose17 yes I do, but I don’t know whether Synthroid is the cause. I have been an insomniac for several years and I can’t remember if I already had it before Synthroid, or after I started taking it.

Being retired, I take insomnia in stride. I sleep in every morning and don’t feel guilty. After all, my time is my own now. lol.

@rashida what type of side effects were you experiencing?

@bellarose17 my suggestion would be to please speak to your doctor about the situation’s you were having with your medication and ask your doctor what his suggestion would be for you can’t hurt. My very best wishes to you moving forward!!!

@bellarose17 I will be honest with you these medication‘s affect every single person so so differently that it’s hard to say with the stories I can understand because I have a lot of situation’s with many many medication‘s!!! I don’t know why but for some reason I never have problems with the Synthroid and the other medication for thyroid cancer I don’t know why but who knows everybody’s body is different but I would do is discuss the situation with your doctor and see if the doctor has any suggestions for you moving forward as far as medication’s for you and anything else that would help you out.

@bellarose17 waking up with nausea, stomach cramps in the morning followed by large bowel movement, and right after that, heaving (since stomach is empty first thing in the morning) and throwing up bile. Stomach cramps during the day too.

I cannot remember the name of the generic brand I was given. I know the generic name is Levothyroxine, but the company making the generic escapes my mind. I returned the bottle to the pharmacy.

@bellarose17 I don’t have thyroid cancer but I have been taking Synthroid for many years now, for my hypothyroidism. Recently the pharmacist switched me to a generic (a version of Synthroid is available in generic formulation now) as required by the government whenever one is created. I couldn’t tolerate and had to switch back to the brand name Synthroid.
