Does anybody know difference between oncotypeDX and Decipher test?
Does anybody know difference between oncotypeDX test and Decipher test ? My husband had oncotypeDX after first biopsy in 2019 and I am reading here on forum that most people had Decipher test.
We were denied any other new genetic test on new sample that was obtained in March. Any advice, shared experience and/or link would be highly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance < 3

Decipher offers financial assistance in some cases
Best wishes
Thank you very much for links and for tip about financial assistance ! < 3

Does your I.D. indicate you are a surfer?
I have never heard of the test you mentioned Oncotype DX. I did have a Decipher test.
I really am thankful for Decipher. My Mayo R/O ordered one for me after my biopsies put me in the intermediate risk group. That meant radiation and hormone treatments recommendations.
My Decipher test came back low risk. That changed my treatment plan to just radiation no hormones.
I see another poster mentioned financial assistance from Decipher. That is correct. They contacted me by letter and said if insurance did not cover they offer a reduced costs and payment method.
Good luck!
Hey JC, Pretty sure the Decipher only became commercially available mid 2022?
But there were several urine tests available before then. As you point out it’s a game changer treatment wise. My buddy just got his result back - .2something so no ADT and Sloan says he’s a candidate for MRI guided focal ablation.
I told him to run out and buy a lottery ticket😆
@heavyphil
Yes tell him to buy one for me too with all his good luck. As I look back to my Decipher test results I also consider myself lucky.
I got diagnosed in February of 2023. It was during my consultation with Mayo Jacksonville R/O who recommended the Decipher test to me. Had no idea what it was until got results back and made such a dramatic change to my treatment plan.
It is why I always mentioned it as seems a really good test to help accurately diagnose prostate cancer risk levels. I know some fear insurance not covering it but if that is the case Decipher will work with you.
I got letter from Decipher advising me of the costs and if my insurance did not pay for it they would offer a discounts and payment plan. My insurance did pay (Medicare and BCBS Federal) in full and had not out of pocket expense for it.
I can see since my diagnosis there seems to be many more cutting edge diagnosis test and treatments. I hope some day we get to the prevention of the disease treatments as way too many of us get this cancer.
Thanks everybody for writing and giving me advice : )))
JC - I am not surfer, my hubby likes to windsurf and kite and I am here as his "proxy" ;). I want him to read some relaxing stuff and not being immersed in this tedious research, stress will not help him. He also still works full time and has 2 other projects on the side. Also "surfing" symbolically represents to me "smooth and fast ride" toward harbor/ destination , in this case to health. (knock the wood /\ )
