Doe anyone have both peripheral neuropathy and venous insufficiency?

I have both and I don't believe that one caused the other; mostly just coincidence. IIRC I had the CVI before the neuropathy. Late last summer I had some ultrasound done by my PCP who is supposed to be a vein specialist as well. Post visit notes suggest a procedure could be done. After a 3 month followup the opinion was that I'm SOL stuck with the CVI. I take PreGabalin which keeps the neuropathy under control. Also have foot drop from nerve damage due to being pre-diabetic. I have issues with lower back pain. It's possible that it may be due to needing a hip replacement the diagnosis of which is complicated by the neuopathy and foot drop. I walk a little gimpy like Chester from Gunsmoke.

Sorry I can't offer a solution. Never tried any magnesium based creams or lotions.

Interesting. I have both. My neurologist, cardiologist and primary doctors say that the two are not related. I have found that there have been many little discoveries over the years so I wouldn't be surprised if someone will find that neuropathy and poor circulation in our lower extremities are related.

At this point I have found multiple sources online, which appear to be reliable sources, which state that having venous insufficiency can cause peripheral neuropathy.

I would add that I have MACS Mild Autonomous Cortisol Secretion. Discovered about June, 2021. I had benign growths on both adrenal glands and both were producing cortisol resulting in an excess. I had one adrenal gland removed in August, 2024. It still didn't result in adrenal insufficiency. By then the damage from excess cortisol had been done leaving me with foot drop from nerve damage due to being pre-diabetic. Actually I sort of self diagnosed diabetic neuropathy just from the type of chest pain on the left side. Hard to sort it all out when so many things go wrong at once. Had I known about the hypercortisolism way earlier it might have been a different story.

I have both and back pain as well. My gait is bad and I have to use a cane. All happened in six months. Have you heard of this gets worse? Any suggestions? Thank u!!

BTW, I learned recently that if you have two issues like this, with no known cause, that it can be a good idea to be tested with an autoimmune disease screening panel (blood test). I actually had 4 diagnoses with no known cause, then my primary care doctor ordered an autoimmune panel, and it came back positive. HTH.

For me it seems to have stabilized. My PCP who is also a vein specialist is finally getting around to maybe doing something about it. Funny thing I've noticed is that [in spite of or because of compression stockings] my left lower leg fills up with fluid and swells and feels hard to the touch. At night while asleep the fluid drains back out. The issue is more prevalent with the left leg than it is wih the right leg.

I believe that I have both PN and diabetic neuropathy. I had pain in my left side chest and it was sensitive to to touch from clothing. Also I used to itch like mad all over esp. later in the day. Both the itching and chest pain have gone away since I started using PreGabalin. Unfortunately being pre-diabetic caused some nerve damage in my right lower leg resulting in foot drop.
Nothing to do with the lower back pain IMO.
