Doctor closed his practice. Missed Evenity injection.

My doctor abruptly closed his practice. I had my final Evenity scheduled for this week, which didn't happen. He didn't provide any referrals. I found a new doctor (there aren't many nearby) but I can't get into see her for another three weeks. Is a one-month gap at the end of Evenity treatment a huge deal? Thankfully I will have new blood test results to bring with me to the new doctor. But when I spoke with her on the phone, she wanted to see my bone density results before recommending my next drug. That test isn't scheduled until two weeks AFTER I see her, which is the earliest I could get for insurance to cover the cost. I'm a little panicked by this one-month treatment gap.

Brandysmom,
Evenity remains in your system for about 2 months. It takes about 12 months for your CTX and P!NP to return to before treatment levels. You probably have already received the maximum benefit from Evenity.
I wouldn't be worried were I in your situation, but it isn't kind that you were left hanging.

Thank you, Gently, for the reassurance. I'm so frazzled by this doctor's actions.

I agree with Gently, the benefit is apparently in the first several months. Have you considered reporting the doctor to the medical board in your state? That doesn't sound safe that he just close without making arrangements for treatments that were essential.

I would call the manufacturer and ask about the gap. I would also call your insurance company and tell them what is going on. Maybe they can find you a doctor who will see you. They have nurse coaches also to speak to. Call everyone you can think of and also call your new doctor's office again and let them know your situation. The squeaky wheel.............
