Yes , good amount of protein , all kind of vegetables , fruits and seeds.
The radiologists recommends turmeric as is antiinflamatory , however the oncologist told me that turmeric could thinning the blood so I avoided….

I wasn’t hungry during the days of the treatment so I tried to eat small portions but well balanced.

I avoided sugar , any kind of pastry, fast foods etc … trying to give my body the best chances to recover from the treatment….

Thank you @angiemal. I have been doing the same thing so I will keep on doing that. I am taking a few supplements though so I will just stop it during the course of my radiation.

I was pretty emaciated from chemo, so they just kept giving me appetite stimulants, and all kinds of ways to boost my calories. They never gave my cousin any food requirements either.
I would think that staying hydrated would be important.
Like @angiemal said, eating whatever gives your body the best chance of recovery. Your body is taking a large enough dose of radiation to make your whole system feel it. Be kind to your body during this time.
Does anyone else have recommendations from the radiation team?

Nothing was discussed with me so I continued a veggie heavy vegan diet I was doing with chemo and my first surgery.

I did 35 rounds, it wasn't like chemo where they were tracking my weight and sounding alarms with weight drops, so I was able to start in on slowly losing the baby weight I had at start of treatment.

The most important thing to them was my skin (I have the pale redhead-type skin that gets destroyed during radiation so we had to do lots so I could keel going) and heart (so I got an echo-cardiogram before the start). Also maybe my bone density scan was then?

I was 39 and had gone through the 20 rounds of chemo plus surgery pretty well so that may be why they didn't make diet recs.

Good luck! Can't go wrong with the best and most nutritious food you can get down.
Hugs

I was given no nutritional/diet guidance during radiation. Dietary guidelines do not seem to be part of the standard approach in radiation. You might just stick with a usual healthy diet, but frankly I was stressed out emotionally and not looking to make any improvements in my habits! I think it is a time period to care for yourself--whatever that looks like to you. I did lose some weight from stress, but unrelated to radiation.

My wonderful radiation oncologist told me to eat whatever looked appetizing (my radiation treatments began after chemotherapy was completed). Every single day we stopped at our favorite diner for coffee and breakfast. Instead of dreading radiation, the wonderful staff at the medical center and equally wonderful waitress became something to look forward to. Find something to substitute your anxiety with joy.

What kind of supplements have people tried prior to treatment. I’m on a whack. Piperine, suphoralane, tumeric. Quercetin to name a few. Just interested in what people have taken and what they have been told. Have not started chemo yet
