Recently diagnosed with Stage 3 TNBC. Would appreciate any sources for healthy diet specifically during chemo.

When I had chemo it was recommended that I increase my protein intake to close to half my weight in grams. So if I weighted 150 lbs my daily intake of protein should be almost 75 grams. So I had a high protein morning drink that had btwn 35-40 grams. Them I ate the rest during the day in protein bars; veggies anywhere i could find. My protein drink included a protein powder and a higher protein milk - Fairlife. That was my main change to my diet for chemo.

I forgot to mention I'm TNBC and BRCA2+. I completed all treatment 2yrs ago, I did chemo first with mediport implant then BMX then radiation. I'm 72 and chose to go flat, wanted retirement to be free of additional surgeries.

I have a friend who is a registered dietitian/nutritionist and works at a hospital. Her recommendations were also to keep protein up and set me up with some protein bars (really not fan of protein bars) and recommended keeping some protein shakes on hand for those times when I couldn’t eat. My biggest problem was (and still is) getting enough calories. She recommended I stay at 1600-1800/day through the chemo. Even though I eat 3 meals a day, I have trouble getting 1000-1200 which should be my maintenance levels without treatment. I have minimal problems with protein unless I don’t eat 1 or 2 meals. But I try for higher protein foods whenever possible.

I also found that I had luck with the meal replacement shakes, I decided to get one that was somewhat specialized (superfoods and such which had a good portion of minerals due to reading about how it affects the minerals in the body) yes, it's expensive, but for me it helped so thought I would share

So which one did you find. I started with Premier Protein because it was recommended but have also used Fairlife and Orwyn. But haven’t seen one with superfoods and minerals that also had protein.
