Does pre op pt help?

Both pre op pt and home exercise really help for recovery. I upped my leg exercises and upper body exercises. It made it so much easier. My advice
....dont skip it. Good luck with your surgery.

In a word, “absolutely”! My surgeon/friend told me, after his skill 😃, PT is the single most important aspect. Do not skimp on your work. I’m 18 months post-op of my 2nd TKR and I’m still working on my own PT in the form of weights, bicycling, yoga, and stretching. My knees haven’t felt this good in years!

Best of luck to you.

100% helpful key also is finding the right physical therapist. I hit jackpot with my military surgeons and therapist. My therapist has a lot of credentials. He has PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, BRM and is experienced in dry needling. He also is an adjunct professor in pt. Did pre therapy for TKR and cmc surgery. Did not do pre pt for RTS even though my dr had told me to as I was in so much pain and had been discharged from pt by different therapist for lack of progression. Big mistake on my part. For replacements therapists strengthen muscles that will be required for strength postop. I did for other surgeries and saw the difference. I was in therapy since day of TKR and in his office 1 day post op was 0 degrees extension and 64 degrees flexion. Takes a lot of work and dedication but I do believe finding a great pt is as important as a great surgeon.

I did pilates to straighten my legs and core before THR. My surgery was a month ago and I am feeling great! Back to pilates and walking my dogs again.
My doctor says pre-op exercises are very important for successful recovery.

Exercises both pre and post op are extremely and critical IMPORTANT! So is STRETCHING!

Most people know probably 3 to 6 months in advance...if they're going to get this particular surgery and I believe that you will bless the day that you started doing exercises because it's a night and day difference in your results!

Yes, I knew the exercises in advance and felt more prepared.
