Diagnosing inflammatory breast cancer by bloodwork

Posted by prepschool04 @prepschool04, Feb 5 5:19pm

I saw my primary care doctor due to some redness/purple coloring on nearly half my breast that doesn't seem to be a bruise or anything I can immediate determine (rash). But she only is doing bloodwork and says we have to wait for that. Everything I read online says biopsy or skin testing nothing about blood. Just trying to make sure I'm getting the right testing done?

Welcome to connect @prepschool04 I am sorry you are going through this even more the worry of it. If this were me, I would ask my doctor why the blood work test was important. She might be seeing something that you didn’t realize. If you are feeling antsy you might ask her if you can have a referral to an OB/GYN, this is kind of in that territory.
How long did it take for this to get to half of your breast?

Ok I asked! Its VA so wish me luck....hahha And it showed up super rapidly? Like within a two days? She did a breast exam and ordered a mammogram but to me you can still be neg on those and still have IBC right? So why not do the skin biopsy? I also have cancer (mom and aunt on one side, grandma on other) on both sides of my family. Been getting mammograms since I was 23. Recent one in august. Also making circumstances more difficult is that I am a T2 spinal cord injury complete which means i cant feel my breast with typical sensation so itchy feeling, pain...i won't have any other those symptoms. Besides the typical lowered immune system...so....
