Diabetes and Chronic sciatic pain

I have had severe sciatic pain for the past 6-7 weeks on my side. I am a Type 2 Diabetic. I've noticed that with my increased pain, which causes pain upon standing, walking or sitting, that my glucose numbers have been very high despite taking Insulin. Do you think my pain is what is causing my high glucose numbers?
