Deep inner bone pain

Posted by tnt1970 @tnt1970, Aug 14 10:36am

I have been getting woke up with excruciating pain in my right hip and femur area for about the last 3 months, it makes my back hurt as well as flank pain, Dr thinks i have Cushings but am not able to see a specialist until October, can these be related?

tnt1970, cushings is caused by excessive cortisol which can cause bone loss. Call your dr and ask him to order an MRI of that hip. Have him send you the requisition and call around to all the radiology labs to secure the earliest appointment. You'll have to then send the requisition yourself. If your doctor is reluctant, tell them that you might be fracturing. (you might be) If he refuses, don't accept an x-ray. See someone else. Get into one of those urgent care places. It is easier to support a fracturing femur than to have hip replacement. The we will all pray that the MRI is a waste of time.

Did you get an xray of the hip? That was all I needed when I had pain in that area to tell me that I had no cartilage left in that joint. I was walking hunched over at the age of 40 for 2 years. I ended up getting the hip resurfaced 15 years ago, and I played baseball with it every year.

Where do I get a bone resurface as my hip xray showed mild arthritis?
I return to dr in Sept.

Hey Judy, Hip Resurfacing is for severe arthritis. It is basically a hip replacement without chopping off the head of rhe femur. Unfortunately, I think most doctors have stopped performing this procedure on women due to the slightly elevated failure rate compared to men.
