If your RO or Urologist does not suggest a Decipher test, ask them why not.

This is great news!

The Decipher score has achieved a Level 1B evidence rating. Men can add this independent genomic test assessment to their Gleason score, clinical stage, PSA level and % of positive biopsy core involvement to determine which type of treatment is preferred in their specific case, according to NCCN guidelines.

My urologist ordered the Decipher test and based on my "low risk" Decipher genomic score, combined with my NCCN favorable intermediate risk group classification, was able to indicate that active surveillance is my preferred treatment recommendation.

This Decipher test is also to be recommended for those in the "high" and "very high" NCCN risk groups because it provides guidance as to the specific doublet, triplet or quad level treatments that are to be preferred for these cases.

See the attached files for how the NCCN groups can be combined with the genomic Decipher score result to make specific treatment recommendations.

Clinical/genomic risk categorization represents the future of prostate cancer treatment recommendations, which will be based on the actual cancer cells taken from the individual. No more "one size fits all" when it comes to PCa treatments.

@shelby29 The reason for a Decipher test is to confirm diagnosis of what risk level he is in. It is a genetic test and much more accurate for what risk level accuracy.

For me I was diagnosed at intermediate based on my biopsies. My RO/OC suggested the Decipher and it came back low risk which changed my diagnosis and the treatment plan. I was scheduled for both radiation and hormone treatments. The hormone treatment was removed based on Decipher.

So it could give you a better diagnosis or confirm.
