Cushing Syndrome from Prednisone Usage

Posted by maryanne7 @maryanne7, Dec 30, 2023

Has anyone gotten Cushing Syndrome while taking prednisone for back pain? I did while hoping that injections for sciatica would work. The injections may have done some good, but haven't fully worked. Has anyone gotten over Cushing Syndrome? How and how long? I am trying with the advice of my primary care doctor.

@maryanne7 I wanted to share some information with you about Cushing's Syndrome. You may wish to consult other specialists because this causes other health problems such as diabetes, hypertension, and osteoporosis that is discussed in these links to information. You may need to know if this has progressed into other serious issues. Diabetes is of course linked to heart disease, and my dad had this and heart disease, but not related to steroid use.

Have you been tapered of the use of prednisone? Is there another way to help your back pain, perhaps maybe physical therapy? I have done a lot of physical therapy and I am a spine surgery patient, so I know it has been very beneficial for me.

Thank you, Jennifer. I had been tapering prednisone for 5 months. I saw some improvement in my moon face. I had too much pain under 8 mg, even though I was also taking gabapentin and Tylenol. My doctor just recently switched me to hydrocortisone and she switched the GABA to Cymbalta.
