Completed 6 Pluvitco Injections. Oncologist moves me to Lynparza.
I've posted previously about moving from Taxotere to various spot/targeted radiations and finally on to Pluvitco. Pluvitco worked for a while and then stopped but even before completing the final injection, the oncologist, coordinating with the radiologist, prescribed Lynparza for me. If you've had this progression of treatments, can you provide an overview of your experience and what I may encounter on this journey. Many thanks in advance for all who can help me moving on.

Lynparza ONLY works if you have BRCA1 or BRCA2. Did you have both hereditary and somatic tests? Did either show BRCA? Otherwise it’s shooting in the dark.
Ask your doctor what reasoning was used to give you a PARP If you don’t have BRCA.
@jeffmarc My genetic tests put me in the population that should/may/might benefit. My post is because I'm most interested in folks who have had a similar progression to mine did with Lymparza. Thanks

2 ReactionsThanks for sharing, @soflada. You're a bit ahead of me, progression-wise, but even though I can't offer any advice from my own experience, it's super helpful to get a peek at what might be coming next.
I hope you get the information you need from others who've been down the same road, and best of luck! ❤️
@soflada, how are you doing on Lynparza (Olaparib)? Any update?
@colleenyoung I really can't give you much of any idea what Lynparza is doing to/for me because I started on it before the final Pluvicto injection. The side effects that are discussed in the drug information page are so similar to so much of what I've been on, I suspect I'll figure this out only if there is some sort of outlier effect. The folks at Lynn Cancer Institute have had a variety of people checking in with me on a regular basis. By inference, there may be issues that they have learned to watch for but have not filled me in on. I think I'll spend some time talking with the oncologist about this the next time I see him.
@soflada
I know one guy who had Pluvicto And when it wasn’t successful, went to Austria and had actinium. That didn’t work for him either so they tried more Pluvicto And also included a PARP inhibitor lynparza. That didn’t work for him either and he only survive for about another four or five months.
Peter who leads the bimonthly reluctant brotherhood advanced prostate cancer meetings has BRCA2 and had Pluvicto a couple of months ago. After two treatments, his PSA dropped a .04 and they decided that he could hold the other four treatments off until he needed it again. The thing is Pluvicto is supposed to work really well if you have BRCA2. His results sort of confirmed it for him. He’s had prostate cancer for 14 years and has had a lot of metastasis. He also hasn’t had to try a PARP inhibitor yet because other drugs have worked.
Lynparza is the name for the standard Olaparib PARP inhibitor. I actually took it for five days once but had terrible nightmares and switched to Nubeqa.
Some peoples hereditary DNA does not have BRCA2, But when they get a somatic DNA test that tests their cancerous tissue or their blood, it can show BRCA and in that case Olaparib/Lynparza can work.
They do try to use Lynparza If the genetic problems of ATM, PALB2, and/or CHEK2 are found. It may help in those cases. Maybe you have one of those genetic issues in your hereditary or somatic testing.
How long did pluvicto work
@jxj
That’s another one of those things where everyone is different. For some people, positive Pluvicto Results last less than a year for others they last for a few years. There’s no way to know how it will work for you.
You need to realize that it works really well for 1/3 of people OK for 1/3 of people and not at all for 1/3 of people.
Pluvicto genetic issues. Somatic or heditary testing should be done.
RB1, PTen, TP53 are Pluvicto resistant
ATM & BRCA work better with Pluvicto
@jxj You're asking a question I've had since I began Pluvicto and after my series has completed. Answer--who knows? We did see some real improvement during and after the first three treatments. Then, not much if anything that I can specifically point to. I did have one/two seriously bad days in the first week after almost all the Pluvicto injections which looks like I'm an outlier on that. I did try to talk the radiologist into skipping the last one but he told me it was better to complete the full course. Right now, it's on to Lynparza, continuing to hope for the best.
Try and stay positive, I have been losing weight like crazy, today I got back my appetite after a month. I’m going on my 5th treatment not looking forward to side effects .
