Colorectal Surgery Time
I am a relatively young person that was recently diagnosed with a giant, around 55mm, pre-cancerous polyp in the ascending colon. It was not deemed to be safe for removal through the colonoscopy procedure. I have a consult with a surgeon at Mayo Rochester around November 3rd. I am very anxious and somewhat of a planner due to family, holidays and work schedule. Any thoughts on how quickly surgery happens post consult?

It’s very difficult to say when they can remove the polyp, I believe that it would depend on how busy they are and what the risk is to the patient. It’s a big polyp but thankfully not cancer because that would change everything for you, they usually tend to look into the risk factor and also their schedules. I know that you want to get it fixed and they will do so without causing you any harm, on a better note you have been referred to the doctor who will do the surgery, thank goodness that you had a colonoscopy done, this was very wise and good for a successful recovery, best wishes.
