Anyone use the Coloplast ostomy belt? I'm having issues with it

Posted by ronzee50 @ronzee50, 1 day ago

Hi all,

I recently switched from using Hollister urostomy bags to Coloplast ones. Coloplast sent me samples for the two piece bags which I am now using. In the samples was the belt, part number 1215. The belt was supposed to have a clip for the holes in the wafer on both sides. This is what the Coloplast website shows. The belt I received had a clip on one side and a slot on the other side. I called Coloplast and was sent 2 more belts with the same configuration. A clip on one side and a slot on the other. When I ordered from my supplier Bryan, I got the same configuration, one side clip other side slot.

Has anyone who uses Coloplast had the same problem? I’ve contacted two people at Coloplast about this and have not received a good response, I have even sent them a picture from the website showing the clips on both sides. I feel like I am speaking a different language to them. I have taken a Holister belt and was able to modify it to work. I should not have to do that, but I can’t get Coloplast to understand the issue.

Ron, it must be frustrating when you feel both sides are speaking different languages. I bet it would be easier in person. Hopefully someone here can help. Do you have an ostomy nurse?

Interesting that the belt is an issue. I recently posted about the wearing of the ostomy belts on my ostomy forum and received a great number of replies. The answers were split 50/50 between the wearers and non-wearers. I wear only the deep convex Coloplast Sensura Mio and have worn the belt since day one.

I will enquire on my forum about your belt problem and report back. Forum members live in Canada and no doubt all use Canadian suppliers.

I hope you get your problem solved in a timely fashion.

Sorry...I completely missed the term 'urostomy' in my reading. I do belong to at least one forum which includes urostomates and will ask there. I also have a suprapubic catheter and do use some Coloplast items there.

I also use a Coloplast Sensura Mio but I do not use a belt I never have so I cant be of much help. I hope you get your problem solved. Have you ever tried not using a belt?

@colleenyoung I don't have an ostomy nurse. The belts I received do not match the picture on the Coloplast website and are not usable with wafers with 2 holes to hold the belt.

@ronzee50
Are there only 2 plastic pieces on your belt?
On mine, there are 3.
Two -- one at either end of the belt --have the little hook, as in the top part of your picture, and the "slot'," as you call it -- in the bottom image -- is used to adjust the belt's length.

We have been using the belt you use, purchased from the Ostomy products company. When you order it will show the actual belt. This is the same belt received with Coloplast sample box. Coloplast has very good customer. Recommend you call them and try again. Good luck.

@westendal Hi. There are 3 plastic components. One on each end and the slotted one to adjust the belt. The belts I have have one tab end and 2 slotted ones attached.

@westendal That is the way it is supposed to be. The ones I have been receiving have the hook part on only one end. The other two plastic parts have the slots. At first I thought these were just assembled wrong. But if you look at the other picture, the description says it has a single tab attachment. The issue is the part numbers are the same.

@lauramae3 Well, I've talked to the person who sent the samples and another person in customer service. I have sent pictures that were sent to Colleen. I even sent a picture from the Coloplast website showing the belt with a "tab" on each end. I'm not sure how else to describe the issue. The last belt I received was from my supplier Byram. That was the same as the belts I received from Coloplast. I am at a loss as to how else to describe it to Coloplast.
