What decisions are you facing regarding anesthesia and colectomy? Have you had anesthesia before? Have you met with the anesthesiologist to discuss your needs and questions?

Hi,
Anesthesia is extremely useful for surgery. I do not take any pain pills or let them give me pain meds in the IV when in the hospital either - I ride it out and walk and walk and walk. Still, anesthesia with a nerve block is great to heal post-surgery. I was able to sleep well and be able to walk and walk and eat and get out of the hospital in record time after major surgeries.
I was not nauseas after the anesthesia - they give you something for that, and in doubt ask for Zofran before they put you under so the nurses have it when you're in your room w/o waiting for doctor approval.
Good luck!
