Hi new to group, ammaw52, my Dr. Wants to do a mua June 17 2022. I had tkr 4 months ago today. My rom is 105. Leg is not straight at all. I walk with left leg limping. He said he can not help with straightening leg. Thearpy was 4 months and did thearpy at home. No benefits left. Dr. Would not talk to me about any other way to break up scar tissue. My knee is very stiff. I was in the pool soon as Dr let me at 3months. Any suggestions to break up scar tissue other than mua? Thank You I am afraid it would get worse.

Hi there , I am also 4 months post op with little ROM I can straighten no problem, just bending is an issue. I am getting a manipulation in 5 days along with a shot. I am so nervous for the pain afterwards. I have so much pain now. Ripping and tearing feeling under the incision area while bending and that tight band feeling steady! Still using one crutch to walk and it is always hyperextending on me which makes the knee untrustworthy. I will hope your procedure goes well for you!

I had total knee replacement over 5 yrs ago and am still suffering. I have developed so much scar tissue which causes me pain. I have seen 2 orthopedic specialists who have said surgery knee looks good but I have a lot of scar tissue. I have tried acupuncture, massage, PT and did not help. Deep tissue massage gave me relief for 2 weeks and I continue with appointments. I am looking into cold laser therapy. It helped my dog; the cold laser treatments healed her leg and she did not require surgery. Has anyone tried cold laser therapy for knee?

Hi there......everyone. I thought I would sneak in here and tell you that the only way I have gotten rid of scar tissue is MFR. For those of you that are new, that is Myofascial Release Therapy. The tissue elements around the surgery area become restricted and hurt. MFR releases the restrictions. Here is the link for Connect.

Happy to respond to questions.

I have don’t have much flexion you sound that is good for you …. I could not straighten either I went for mfr that helped straighten my leg of by 5 degrees now…..I would try mfr before mua …. I had mua all I got out of it was swollen…. I did not retain any of the flexion the dr had gotten….I am almost 10 months out I have new dr and I am going for revision surgery end of July … so good luck to you in whatever you decide to do

I had my knee replaced almost two years ago and I have changed my exercise routine. I work on stretching, strengthening, and walking. I feel pretty good but I still get that band feeling around the kneecap. Somedays are better than others. CBD works great for pain!

Cbd combined with thc works better for me than any pharmaceutical. I follow a YouTube channel called “fabulous fifties”. It is perfect for low impact exercise, stretching and strength. She has so many videos it is never boring. I walk on the beach as well

My rom is 105 at almost 70 I am pretty happy. I am on a CPM machine a company brought out. I do pool exercises again. Not really in pain. Do not want a procedure done . I feel so much thearpy was over done and my knee just needs to heal. I exercise I home. I walk. I have worked hard at this. I see the Dr Monday and will talk. I am not ready for this procedure. No peace about it. I pray yours gets better. This is not for the wimps, is it?

That is awesome….. at 105 you can function very well I am sure….I agree you also need to rest knee to heal….for me at like 70 range of motion with pain I have no option but to have revision…. I have to wait until end of July than I be 1 year out…. But you have to do what works for you dr are not always right….if I did not go for second opinion I would not know my tkr is slightly to big….. my original dr blamed me I was not pushing hard enough and hear no matter how much exercise I did I would never get past 70-80…..so I believe listen to your body…. You are doing awesome…..but if does not go anymore for you I would try mfr…..

Thank You, What really bothers me is since my 2 week post op, when I ask for an x ray or CT of my knee to see why he thinks mua is needed the Dr. Has refused to do either. If I go for a second opinion it has to be in August. And I may do it. I already called a Dr. I know and his nurse said with rom at 105 we don't even consider a mua. This is at Emory which was my first choice but my husband got very sick the past 2 years and no longer drives so I went closer to home to take myself. Big mistake. I pray your surgery goes really well and I am so sorry you are having to go thru this. It is very rough.

I also asked my surgeon for X-ray or mri cat scan anything…. But he told me it would not be beneficial at this time ….. so like I said you are doing amazing maybe second opinion to ease your mind about the mua….
