Certainly you should try it. See how long you can go without getting a UTI. If it works for you, you'll see a longer stretch between UTI's.
I have had at least 6 UTI's a year for 10 years. Hiprex worked for a time, then it stopped working and UTI's came back. I had no side effects. I would try it again. I use an estrogen cream to strengthen the skin which is suppose to ward off bacteria. It has other benefits, too. The doctor you choose is important, too. For years I had a urologist who just threw antibiotics based on the textbook duration. It wasn't until I went to a uro-gynecologist that I felt I was being treated as an individual with unique issue. Turned out I had mesh used to fix bladder prolapse in 1994 that deteriorated and the pieces of mesh were causing the infections. I had a few pieces removed from my vaginal wall last August, but the rest of the mesh remains. When I'm put on antibiotics, I get longer duration so the bacteria don't recolonized quickly.
I was prescribed Hiprex,1 gram twice a day ,along with 500 mg of vitamin c twice a day,to increase the acidity of urine. It worked for 8 months, until it stopped working. Now I am taking low doses of antibiotics,in between infections. You have to be prepared for the way Hiprex will make your urine burn til you get used to it. Wishing you luck.
