Chronic pain on right side under lower ribs for 8 years
I’ve been suffering with chronic and undiagnosed pain under my right lower ribs for 8 years. The pain is always there. Sometimes more severe than others and I haven’t quite noticed if eating or drinking anything or anything other than touching that area exacerbates it more or less. I have had over 40 medical professionals look at me, I think I’ve had every test and scan in the book done to no avail. I had my gallbladder removed about four years ago but that obviously wasn’t the problem as over time it has gotten worse. Tests for pancreatic disease , cancer, fatty liver, or gallstones have all come back negative and with healthy organs. I have loose stools most of the time and always very evident yellow bile in them. I also get nauseous out of nowhere sometimes, although admittedly the nausea and throwing up has gotten a little better over the last two years. Before that I was also fighting throwing up just bile at least two times a week for the first six years. Before all this and even a bit still I’ve been a relatively healthy guy. Before this I worked out five times a week, ate very healthy , drink alcohol very sparingly, and did zero drugs. Healthy weight. I have been prescribed muscle relaxers, nerve blocks anti-inflamitories etc. with very little relief. Advil and Tylenol are really all I take now with not much relief either. I’ve had nerve and spine injections 3 times. Two times did nothing, 1 time took the pain down about 30%. I can not sleep on my right side or back, really only one position as when anything touches that area it gets inflamed….
I personally feel there is damage to my bile duct and potentially a medication injury from meds I took for a long time around 8 years ago. ..
I am desperate and broken at this point. I am exhausted with all the tests, Dr. visits loss of work, loss of life experiences all while feeling every doctor is calling me crazy and that it’s in your head. I am so scared that this is much more serious as it has consumed and taken control of a once vibrant and active life… has anyone experienced anything like this?

This sounds just like Slipping Rib Syndrome. Debilitating. Look into this at SRS.org. Also two helpful Facebook groups that are very helpful and loaded with information. Srs info outreach group and Slipping Rib Syndrome. There is a list of SRS physicians nationwide that are aware and treat this. Good luck! I do hope this helps.

My story sounds a lot like yours.
Good luck!
