May your side effects remain as they are. All the best!👍
Well I'm still on the steroids for another day so I'm all hyped up haha thank you for the encouragement. I may do worse after a couple days but I'm thankful for today
Hang in there and good luck with your infusions. We just finished round 6 - we did every 3rd Thursday, so this is the first 3rd Thursday where he can just continue to get less fatigued. The first 2 rounds followed the same pattern, then the 3rd hit hard ( his mix had Carboplatin added and that dose changes with kidney function - that time he got the biggest dose). Then for rounds 4-6, we reduced the Carboplatin a bit.
If you haven’t heard about icing your hands and feet to prevent neuropathy, read up because it works! The first time we just used ice we brought in plastic bags - a mess - lol. So we got the booties and mittens on Amazon. And he sucked on ice cubes to help the mouth sensitivity. He didn’t care about hair loss so didn’t wear a cold cap. Anyway, my point is that it works - he seems to have escaped the neuropathy in hands and feet that can be a miserable side effect.
Good luck, it will go fairly quickly, and soon you will have it behind you - assuming you are getting the SOC docetaxel X 6.
Thank you for your response. Yes my chemo is every third Thursday at 9-11. I'm doing well at the moment thank the Lord. I'll be thinking of yall as you continue on your journey; I can have more compassion on others as all of us are dealing with tough times in life.
My husband is on "every third thursday" as well. Finished round 5 two days ago, he again got the hiccups at night! but breathing into a plastic bag until he couldn't take it anymore, did the trick! such an odd trick.
He was nauseous this morning but not bad. He had a bit of tingling in his toes Thursday and Friday too though we did the chemo gloves and booties, he's more worried about his fingers.
Did they slow down the chemo for 15 min at first? They did 15 min at 25% then 15 min at 50% and then full speed the rest of it, seems to help a lot! Plus the steroids the night before, the morning of and in the IV before starting.
He hasn't really "crashed" yet after the 48hrs but we'll see, he's usually more tired and achy the week after.
A week after round 4 he got 100.4 fever in the evening, didn't take anything but went to bed, in the morning it was under 100 and doctor said to watch it, over the weekend he was fine, blood test on the following tuesday showed everything tanking but this Thursday the levels were back up, so pretty amazing the body can heal after that even though it's being pumped full of poison!
Take it easy but still force yourself to get up and go (hubby goes to the gym almost daily but is taking the weekend off) I expect him to be sore and achy starting tomorrow Sunday. He eats pretty perfectly! Take care!
My hands and feet are fine so far. So far no hiccups or nausea with me; of course this is my first infusion. As far as I know my IV flowed steady to empty. I stay pretty active go to gym and walk a good bit. I have cardiac issues so I have to stay on top of that and thankfully so far is ok. I pray your husband does well and continues to heal. I believe he has a great help mate.
