Possibly, I've had a spinal fusion procedure done on 2 separate occasions, at the C5-C6 level, and then 18 months later at the C7-T1 level. I don't remember having any real issues with my balance or walking at the time, but everybody is different.
@jmaplewood9 Welcome to Connect. If you are asking about foraminal stenosis, that is compression at the nerve roots where spinal nerves exit between the vertebrae bones. Those nerves are specifically mapped to body parts and you can look that up on a dermatome map. Nerves specific to the legs exit the spine at the lower end.
There is another situation that can affect balance and walking that happens in the cervical spine and that is when you have some compression of the spinal cord in the spinal canal. I had that situation at C5/C6 and it caused an uneven gait and I walked with a limp. I also had muscle spasms shifting my spine and straightening the natural curve. The spasms were also rotating upper vertebrae and it caused dizziness and even vertigo on a few occasions when C1 and C2 had shifted. Spine surgery fused C5/C6 and calmed it all down. Physical therapy has helped by working on the spasms and getting things realigned properly.
