Cement allergy from TKR

I have complaint for 2 years about my knee replacement. I always have inflammation through my body. I now have to pay 800 out of pocket for a blood test to see if allergic to cement. I did have patch test done shows I am allergic to cement but my ortho doesn’t take that as conclusive and said I need blood test done. My ortho doesn’t believe all this so after 2 years of complaining he is ordering the blood test which I have to go to his office and have it done as it’s a special test . First thing out of their mouth is I need to pay up front 800. Anyone else come across this?

I found I was allergic to benzoyl peroxide which is part of the cement. My Dr then used ceramic instead of cement. They could not use it on my knee caps as it is not strong enough. Problem solved. Good luck to you!

You might not be allergic to the cement, you might be allergic to the metal itself. I know I was …two left knee replacements, and they replaced it with ceramic, I have not had any problems since and I had my right knee done and put ceramic as well.
