CAT scan 3 mths post op question

Posted by emilymac @emilymac, May 8 9:04pm

My husband has had 5 immunotherapy treatments after surgery on Feb.5.
CAT scan results 3 mth post op are below. I’m wondering if the treatments or post op recovery could cause some of these results?
For example inflammation and I’m wondering what next steps would be, if anything?
Two indeterminate hypoattenuating lesions within the right lobe of the liver, not seen on prior exams. These could be better characterized with MRI with Eovist.
Indeterminate 3 mm subsolid pulmonary nodule in the right middle lobe, new since 1/2/2024

Yes, Opdivo treatments are notorious for causing inflammation just about anywhere within our bodies... in our joints, lungs, skin rashes, etc (sometimes our immune sysyems don't like being manipulated and they rebel !). They will biopsy to be sure. So... to know better what's going on, I'd have to know his initial diagnosis going in... and what his post-op pathology results were. If those were clear... then it would seem highly doubtful that this would be adenocarcinoma mets from his esophageal tumor. Was his pTxNxMx different from his cTxNxMx... assuming they gave you a post-op staging based on pathology?

Thank you !
Initial was T2NOM0
There was a very small presence of cancer cells in one of the 18 lymphs removed which is why he is on immunotherapy .

Hi @emilymac, how is your husband doing? What did the oncologist say about the CT report? Next steps?

They are going to schedule a PET scan for further review . However , we’ve had difficulties getting the appointment with various technical issues. The doctor couldn’t say much without the additional tests.
