Castor Oil

Castor Oil seems to be making a comeback the past few years. Can anyone recommend a particular brand? Also, can you recommend how you have implemented it into your health routine and how it has helped you please. Thank you and God Bless You!

@covidstinks2023 I know when you are struggling with health issues it can be tempting to grasp at anything that sounds safe and potentially helpful, but have you ever wondered why the use of castor oil fell out of favor?

I tried castor oil eye drops to help with chronic dry eyes. It helped a little, with no side effects.

Thank You for this. I was going to try it for dry skin and nails due to thyroid disease. It seems the Integrative Doctors and Western Medicine Doctors do not agree on a whole lot....LOL.

Well, that seems safe enough. Actually my integrative team works pretty well with the other docs, but I understand it is not always the case.
I will suggest though, that castor oil comes from the castor bean/plant, parts of which are highly poisonous, and other parts can be irritating, so some people may be sensitive to it. I have a problem handling the plants, so I would probably not use the oil myself.
I think there are other, milder and probably less irritating oils you can use for dry skin & nails. When I was recovering from heavy metal poisoning, an unwelcome adventure a little like recovering from long Covid, I had thyroid, hair, skin and nail issues. I used Vitamin E oil squeezed right from the little liquid gel capsules and combined it with a very thick a scent-free dry skin cream - CeraVe worked for me. Then I put on cotton gloves to sleep. My husband uses pure coconut oil, but I don't like going around smelling like a tropical drink. 😁

There are many other mild, natural oils like grapeseed, sunflower, avocado and olive - and you can always add a little essential oils so it smells nice. Some soothing/healing essential oils include chamomile, frankincense, lavender, sandalwood, geranium and patchouli.

Caution: Always try new stuff one ingredient at a time on your skin so if you react badly, you know the cause.

I tried pomegranate oil for dry skin. It worked pretty well, but it's not cheap.
