Cancer Information Provided by the National Cancer Institute

Posted by california14 @california14, 3 days ago

I am sharing information about the NCI (National Cancer Institute) . This resource sent me information about my specific colon cancer (stage 3b). The NCI was identified as a source that provides you with a packet of information tailored to your specific cancer.

It took about a week, but I could not believe what I received. It was completely individualized to me and my concerns and it had a huge amount of information for both patients and even some for health care providers. There were also numerous links for more help. I was shocked!

This site does not allow me to post the email address (or any link) but I am sure you can find it. The most unique thing is that their response is specifically linked to your concerns regarding your type of cancer/treatment.

@california14, I noticed that you wished to post a URL to information with your post. You will be able to add URLs to your posts in a few days. There is a brief period where new members can't post links. We do this to deter spammers and keep the community safe. Clearly the link you wanted to post is not spam.

I believe you are referring to the NCI's Cancer Information Service
https://www.cancer.gov/contact
It is a comprehensive service that provides great information, both by mail as you experienced and also on their website: https://www.cancer.gov/

Thank you the update. I will try again in several days. No, the link/ email you posted is not the one I used. Mine goes directly to the NCI which is part of the address.

As an addendum to my response regarding the email I used, in addition to nci , the address also includes nih as well. The information as I said also specifically addressed my concerns with research as well as provided numerous links for help.

Would surely appreciate the exact NIH address if it could please be posted at this site. Thank you.

The reason the exact address was not posted was because I am a new member and, according to the site's moderator, I am not allowed to post links/email addresses as a new member. I was told I will be able to do so after a short period. I will try again this week.
