Canceled PRRT Treatments

Posted by tjstaufr @tjstaufr, Jan 11 2:48pm

I had my 2nd PRRT treatment in October. Third treatment in December was canceled due to low platelet count and scheduled for this Thursday. Had blood work again Friday and believe this will again be canceled making it 4 months since last treatment. Anyone else experience this long of a delay? Thoughts? Thanks

Sorry your having to go trough so many delays, fortunately my treatments were all on schedule.. Hope this turns around for you.

I would recommend abstaining from taking antibiotics like Bactrim 5 days before blood test and to eat more spinach with 1000 mg vitamin c with bioflavinoids. Good luck.

@tjstaufr, have you been able to get your next PRRT treatment? How are you doing?

Doing okay. Thanks. Everything on hold until platelets rise. Currently stuck at 61K. Talking about a splenic to address enlarged spleen which may be interfering with production

@tjstaufr

How are you feeling? Does the platelet problem cause any symptoms?

@hopeful33250 no real symptoms to complain about. Some easy bruising. With PRRT now cancelled and platelet count unchanged. I am awaiting next step conversation mid-February. Consulted with another surgical group regarding spleen as it could be a culprit in slow platelet production. Spleen is relatively normal in size and they did not see a need for embolization referring me back to hematologist for further testing as well. Thanks for the support from all in this group!
