Can I cut Glaxambi by half?
Hello, I had high HB1AC reading of 14 last year August when I was diagnosed with heart failure. My cardio was concentrated on the heart and took good care of it. He made me go om 16 hr fasting and I lost 20+ lbs since then due to fasting, exercise and being conscious of food intake. I was prescribed Glyxambi last May..Now my hb1ac is 6.1 and I strictly adhere to fasting last Sept. Can I cut the pill in half since I feel dehydrated due to this drug. Thank you

I don't know anything about the drug, but I commend you on getting your A1c down so dramatically! Keep up the good work.
@jfching welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I too want to commend you on the improvement in HgA1C and on the weight loss. I also am unfamiliar with the drug Glaxambi. I would be hesitant to alter the dose. Could you discuss the dose with the prescribing provider? If it is causing dehydration perhaps your provider can consider alternate medications?
Hi! Not sure if you have found an answer for this question YET, but I would suggest speaking with your pharmacist about this, or your prescribing doc!
I looked in 2 of my drug books and did a whole bunch of online searching and couldn’t find ANYTHING! Except “the manufacturer of Glyxambi does not specify if it can be cut or crushed” which doesn’t answer anything!
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help! Soooo.. asking pharmacist (or doc!) is your best bet!
Agreed!! Your hard work payed off!! Woohoooo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
