CALCITONIN NASAL SPRAY

I have been waiting for financial help in order to do Tymlos. I am 70 years old with severe Osteoporosis. Never have been on meds. I did write a few weeks ago in this discussion. I was asking for advise on Tymlos.
Anyway, recently I suffered a T8 compression fracture. So so painful. I am so upset. I feel I am going to crumble into dust.
My primary doc suggested starting Calcitonin nasal spray. Wondering if anyone has done that. I am also waiting for my Endo to get back to me with his opinion. Thanks Robin

Calcitonin nasal spray did not work for me. In fact, I experienced excessive bone growth on my eye orbital bones! It was very strange and baffled the doctors. I am currently on Forteo, month # 8.
Good luck to you.

I suggest seeing an endocrinologist or an osteoporosis center. Did you have a pain relieving kyphoplasty on your vertebra?

Calcitonin nasal spray prescribed for 30 days helped with my pain and healing following a fracture. I later went on Evenity from which I got significant gains after 11 months. I just think everyone’s experience with these drugs is different but that we often hear more from those who had issues. Good luck! .

I don't think Calcitonin nasal spray is still around. I used it 20 years ago & I had flashers in one eye from it. I was treated by my ophthalmologist for months before it cleared up.

It is still prescribed, but for a limited amount of time, in my case thirty days to help heal a fracture and decrease pain during the process. It did help but longer use is no longer advised.

I fractured my L3 this past December. It was extremely painful and I felt I had no medical support in any way.
Kyphoplasty was not advised for me because I was healing.
Thanks for sharing about the Calcitonin nasal spray, I did not know that it existed.
