Burning pain in feet and hands all time
I have had burning inflamed pain (no tingling or numbness) in my inner thighs for several years and in the last two years l am having pain in my feet (on the sides, around ankle and back of heel) and even had burning pain on my shoulder where car seat belt is worn. Similarly burning pain in my palm from laptop work. The pain seems to be under the skin. Most of the places where I have burning started with friction or compression (probably restricted blood flow/heat). The symptoms used to be more severe in summer before but this year the pain hasn't subsided and continued in winter. So I checked with RA for any auto immune and my DS-DNA was slightly above range 12 (should be < 4) and RNP was 1.5 (should be < 1). My RA is monitoring but doesn't think it is high enough to be lupus or autoimmune. My Neuro did EMG and everything was good. She said could be small fibers but didn't do any tests. None of them can explain what could be causing. So I tried Modiified AIP diet (no dairy, grain, nuts, nightshade, chillies) for 5 weeks. I didn't see any improvement. Now I am trying Keto diet for 4 weeks but no improvement. Hoping that I can diagnose the root cause or at least heal it with diet. I'm taking ALA, Benfotiamine, B12, Omega3 and Vitamin D3. My A1C has been around 5.9 to 6.1 in past 3 yrs. did A1c on keto after 3 weeks and a1c dropped to 5.8.
my hands and feet are also very cold generally, even indoor, and overall I feel more cold. not sure if there is a link but could be that blood circulation is not happening well in extremities like hand and feet starving nerves.
Has anyone had similar symptoms and if they found relief from any thing? Any supplements that would help with this situation?
Has anyone with skin biopsy done able to diagnose and treat it properly vs taking pain killers? I'm in Canada, but willing to go south to US to do some tests.

Welcome @emperor, Sorry to hear you haven't found any answers yet for the burning pain. You mentioned it started in your inner thighs which sounds similar to Meralgia Paresthetica. There is another discussion here on that condition that you might want to look through - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/meralgia-paresthetica/ while you wait for members with similar symptoms to respond.
Have you thought about seeking a second opinion at a teaching hospital or major health facility?
I looked Meralgia and it is for outer thigh while mine is inner thighs. I'm from Canada so I don't know if we have major facility specializing in this. How does mayo clinic help with diagnosis of this for Canadians? What locations can I go to and what's the process to have canadian insurance support.
Dear Emperor (I love your Mayo connect name 🙂 ),
I can’t read or understand all of what you wrote (my TBI 12 years ago), but I had pain & little feeling from my rearends to the bottom of my feet (I feel down in my garage and hit both rear ends, then it started 2 years ago) then during my balance is gone, during the weakness of ny right-side on my backend.
I went to doctor over doctor until 2 mths ago. Yes, doctor over doctor are most of my doctors for different mental & physical uses (my TBI stuff). Well a doctor, 1st helped part of my top-head to my brain, 12 years ago (my wife says) has given a pre-op & post-op of my “Hampton Roads Neurosurgical & Spine Specialists” to “enhance healing after Back Surgery (Lumbar Fusion)”.
I spent 5 days at my hospital then went home and holding my back brace (standing up all day long) then pain is gone. This pain was killing me and standing up or walking - thankfully all pain is gone including pain pills.
Now, how about my balance problems & little feeling of my right foot? Well, thankfully I can fix or engineer by exercising & walking (when I hold the hand-4 wheel holder) is now there. So, every 2-3 days per week brings me for an hour of some pro folks are “Patient Orientation for Home Health Care”. They gave me ideas to exercise my body to get it back.
Nothing is not easy and thankfully physical exercising helps me - I’ve exercise decades over decades: lift, strentch, swim, bike running… I’ve lost a lot of “exercising” after my TBI accident, but over these years, I still work to lift, stretch my legs,, and stretch my back - well I can’t count for a few mths, but soon to get back of my body..
