I have the same symptom after anterior total hip replacement. I can't tell if it comes up from my numb and cold left foot or if it goes down to the foot because my leg also is numb and tingling. Interesting to know what others say. All symptoms after the hip surgery.

Do you mind sharing a little more about your neuropathy diagnosis and other neuropathy symptoms?

I had the total hip done and the surgeon admitted he could have cut the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve or damaged it when they pull the incision and muscles apart. The doctor tested me with a pin that they use to test for diabetic neuropathy and found several areas on the foot. I went off my vitamin B, calcium and statin and things improved but my foot still feels clumsy, cold and like it is frozen. The doctor put me on one of those meds to "treat" this but it put me in a serotonin syndrome. When my primary doc comes back from extended education, I'm going to work with her because now that strange feeling is going up past the ankle on the left side and into the calf. I think a lot of times the diagnosis is a guess because there is no treatment and people react to the meds. Good luck to you and the journey you will be on.

I have the same problem mainly on my right lower leg and my calf seems to go numb at times.
My big toe feels always numb but that happened after my first back surgery in 2005. I was diagnosed with non diabetic neuropathy about 5 years ago. The burning in my arms is almost gone but my feet and knees burn during the night. Hardly get any sleep. I stopped taking all the meds (Gabapentin) because it really did not help me and quiet taking anything that has B-6 in it. The Neurologist told me that my level was very high (240) and it caused the nerve damage. My B-6 level has since been very low, between 30-50 but no improvement. I also was diagnosed by Mayo's in 2006 with Erythromelalgia and Raynaud's. I go to bed with blue and purple ice-cold toes and wake up 1-2 hours later because my feet are burning. It did find that Aspercream with Lidocaine gives some relief if only for a few hours.
Good luck to all of you who are dealing with this insidious condition. You would figure since so many people are dealing with it there is something that would help to cure it.

I think more of us with this condition need to speak up with this forum. Then maybe treatment will be considered. I'm afraid to take meds because of side effects. One of those anti seizure drugs put me in a serotonin syndrome so all 6 of those drugs are on my allergy list. After I had the hip surgery, I've found many articles about the surgery and numbness and tingling, even from the National Institutes of Health, but don't know if anyone is listening. I'm considering a lawyer because my life is ruined.
