I came across this study and as a buprenorphine patch patient I wanted to share this. I’ve read a lot of posts by people who have not been successful in using this. The transdermal route of administration provides 24/7 relief. It takes a little bit of time for your body to become accustomed to it since it works differently than other narcotic medication. See the attached information I provided too. I needed an increase from 15mcg after two weeks since I was having increased breakthrough pain and using more Percocet. I’m now on 20mcg for over 3 years and I rarely have breakthrough pain. I prefer cannabis for breakthrough pain. There is a method doctors are supposed to use to transition patients from oral pain meds like morphine to buprenorphine. Unfortunately many docs who are not pain docs either do not follow this prescribed method in the literature or they’re being cautious by starting you off on a low dose first to assess your reactions.
For people taking oral buprenorphine it is not as effective for continued pain control in my opinion and if you forget a dose you may have concerns.
