Brief nerve pain on left temple area and shoulder/upper arm
Hi all,
This pain comes periodically and is very intense but usually only lasts under 10 seconds. It’s only ever on my left side and is on my temple/side of head and the outside of my shoulder/upper arm. When it’s bad it feels like it pulls my head and shoulder to each other.
For the first time just now I was able to re-trigger the pain by leaning my head to the right and when it was straight the pain went away! That’s new though haha
Any suggested ideas or investigations avenues are appreciated 🙂

How do you know it's nerve pain? What is nerve pain supposed to feel like?
Hello @jesss2, Welcome to Connect. Your symptoms sound similar to Thoracic outlet syndrome - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/thoracic-outlet-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20353988. @jenniferhunter has some experience with TOC and may have some information or suggestions she can share with you.
Have you discussed your symptoms with your doctor?
@jesss2 Have you had any imaging of your cervical spine? I have TOS and am also a spine surgery patient. Typically TOS pain can be triggered by raised arms and certain neck positions. If you also have cervical spine issues, bending you neck may trigger pain too. It can be complicated to separate where symptoms are coming from. Would you be able to provide more details on how you can provoke pain or the positions that increase your pain?
