Breast implant lumps and pain

Posted by Lily @cruz97, 4 days ago

I had breast cancer for which I underwent treatment and then bilateral mastectomy with breast reconstruction. Now I found 2 pea size lumps after having some discomfort and swelling on my right breast followed by pain in right arm, I call my oncologist they told me call you plastic surgeon, I call them and they book me for 5 days later. I’m freaking out as I’ve had breast cancer before and not sure what to do. Does anyone have any advice? Should I just wait and push to get seen sooner?

Hello @cruz97 I can almost feel the stress in your post, so I won’t wait and see if someone else answers. By the way, I am sure there will be others, we are an empathic group of people.
Try to breathe💕, I know this is harder than it sounds as I have been in your shoes. Take a deep breath, hold for a beat, then blow out forcefully, repeat often. This is one of the ways I get through extreme periods of stress.
I also want you to remember your original diagnosis, I am sure there were times of very stressful waiting, we all have them. Waiting for biopsy, waiting for biopsy results, waiting for scan results etc. thankfully, my mind at least, allows me to forget that time.
In the scheme of things, five days isn’t a long time for cancer, or benign growths, but it is a long time for our brain to think about worst case scenario. Please try not to do this, worrying only steals your joy from today. I know that is easy to say, hard to do. I try to tell myself, if the worst happens I will be glad I enjoyed today. I would have lunch with a friend, go spend an hour brushing my horse, or knit with some beloved music and then say I will remember how happy that felt when I am in treatment.
I don’t know if any of this helps, but I am sure other member will have tips for you as well. May I ask how long it has been since your original diagnosis?

Thank you, it’s actually does help hearing it from someone that has gone through it. Last diagnosis was on 2021. The mass for that diagnosis grew at a very rapid rate in the course of a week, hence my stressing.
