Brain Tumor WE NEED 🙏

Posted by brinah23 @brinah23, Mar 11 9:46am

Good morning, My husband was diagnosed 4/23 and went through several rounds of chemo, radiation, immunotherapy. (He is still doing immunotherapy). He was last scanned in December (2023), and the scan showed remission. He was doing fine with the exception of having to get blood sugar back under control after about 6 weeks of steroids to the treat the pneumonitis of his lungs. Fast forward to this past Friday (3/8/24). He woke up with the worst headache of his life. I took him to urgent care to rule out flu, covid etc and he started vomiting at urgent care. They sent us to the ER for a CT scan which showed a 2.0 by 1.5 tumor on his brain (right side of cerbellum). We were sent in a transport to Atlanta because the hospital we were at does not have a neurosurgeon. They did an MRI and he is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow or Thursday. He is back on steroids and insulin here in the hospital to treat swelling of his brain. His oncologist is working with the team here, and he told us while ago that there is a 1 percent chance of esophageal cancer metastasizing to the brain. He said it could be a new primary tumor. The neurosurgeon said 80 to 90 percent of brain tumors are mets. We won’t know what it is until it comes out and treatment is the same even if it is benign. We are devastated. We have 2 daughters 24 and 22. My oldest is getting married June 1. Please first and foremost pray. But if you have any info please send it. Thank you.

Oh, @brinah23. This is such hard news. I'm holding you, your husband and your family in my thoughts. I'm glad that surgery is an option for the tumor location. Has the surgery been confirmed for tomorrow or Thursday? How are you doing?

Hey. Yes he had surgery yesterday and praise God he is doing well. The surgeon said he got most of it and says he can get the remainder with radiation. We are waiting for a bed in acute care, and we can get out of ICU. He is walking talking eating and drinking. God is good.

Brinah, that is fantastic news. I've been holding my breath and am very grateful you took the time to write. I especially love the sentence "He is walking talking eating and drinking." Incredible that his surgery was only yesterday.

And you? I can imagine you're running on adrenaline. Don't forget yourself. Are you also eating? Getting some sleep?

Eating a little bit. Not sleeping because it’s just not comfortable and they come in a lot. We are being moved out of ICU around 9. I hope we get to go home tomorrow. That’s what they’re saying.

Good evening. There have been some changes, and we covet your prayers. The surgeon came in and told us that he reviewed the MRI, and he did not get as much of the tumor as he thought. He said that he doesn’t feel confident just trying to radiate that much because some tumors are more aggressive, and it is best to radiate a cavity. Without being too graphic, the tumor was very bloody and close to the jugular vein. It was difficult to tell the tumor from normal tissue with it being so bloody. Long story short, the best treatment plan is to go back in and get the rest of it. The neuro oncologist is also in agreement with this. It’s certainly not what we wanted, but we want it gone. Surgery is set for tomorrow at 1:00 pm. The surgeon anticipates a full recovery. Bryan does have slight fever of 99.1. Please pray for specifically complete and perfect healing, recovery, no side effects, safety during the procedure, wisdom for the doctors. #teambryan Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “

Brinah, I know this isn't the news you wanted. I remain hopeful that surgery is still an option and that the surgeon anticipates a full recovery. It's getting late. I hope that you are finding comfort in your prayers and able to get some sleep. I will be holding you in my thoughts tomorrow.
