Electric shock zaps as I fall asleep
For the past year since covid, I've started having awful electric shock zaps in head, chest, and even tummy the minute I start to drift off at night. Often happens up to 50 times until the morning. I have "covid induced small fiber neuropathy" and "benign fascicular syndrome" with internal twitching but lately I feel like overnight my whole body becomes a live wire, shorting out with sparks everywhere. I've tried Lyrica and Gabapentin with no help. Ambien or Unisom work for sleep but when I wake, my body is usually buzzing or vibrating- the vagus nerve I think- so unnerving, no pun intended! Anyone else have these bizarre occurrences since covid??

I have not experienced Covid-19; however, I do have similar instantaneous electric shocks in my head (particularly in the evening). I know no cause.

Are you working with a neurologist now? What testing did they do (MRIs of brain/spine, extensive bloodwork, EMGs/nerve conduction studies, etc.)? Have you tried alpha Lipoic acid, Acetyl l carnitine, and magnesium supplements? Are you deficient in vitamin b12 or vitamin d? Have you ever been prescribed duloxetine? Are you taking any antidepressants? Certain antidepressants or antipsychotics have caused brain zaps and neurological pain for me.
Every few months I'll have the following, lasting about 24 hours: a sharp "zap" lasting a second of two, then nothing until the next one, about a minute or 2 later. These, only on the margins (outer) of both feet. Never on the soles. Once this occurred on a shin. A custom formula capsule had no effect. No painkillers work.
Are you male or female and what is our age? Do not mean to get personal but I got electric shock feelings when my progesterone took a dive and I went into menopause (age 49),
