I have this several times a week. I'm assuming that mine is irritable bowel syndrome. I have not officially been diagnosed with IBS, but have had this I was a child, and through research, that is what I think is my issue.

Here IBS for 3 years. Nothing helped.
This year EPI pancreas produces no enzymes to accommodate digestion.
You need an upper endoscopy to closely look at your pancreas if your enzymes are not normal.

I have this situation also. Sometimes I think I'm weird and then I see posts like yours. I too have self diagnosed myself as IBS. My colonoscopy (with biopsies) shows ?cologenic colitis. I've suffered from diverticulitis my whole life and had hemicolectomy about 15 years ago which helped that a lot. Mostly I use Imodium PRN and stool softners PRN. I'm seventy-nine and doing what I can to keep good quality of life.

I too have on average 6-8 bowel movements a day. They are however the same solid consistency.

It could be your diet, what you eat, meal by meal. Some of your food/supplements are constipating; some of not.

jimhans48, Could it be a spastic colon? Have you tried peppermint tea yet? Google it -- it calms the gut muscles and could cut back on those spasms (Heather's Tummy Tamers has a great tea). As for the "true" source of the spasms, it could be stress, specific foods/quantities, or a mix of the two.

It started with stage 1 cancer in my rectum. About 90% of the rectum was removed and that started the excessive bowel movements. Mon of this week, Dec 30 or 31, I had twenty bowel movements between 3 am and 11 pm.

jimhans48 -- Have you gone to a pelvic floor therapist yet? They exist but are rather rare. One may be able to help your situation. I have gone to one. From what you say, the rest of your gut seems to operate normally.
