Bisphosphonates side effect, I was not told about.

While looking up causes of mild Hyperparathyroidism, ( whose symptoms can be misdiagnosed as psychological), I came across the information that Bisphosphonates can cause Hyperparathyroidism.

All of this stuff has possible side effects. 🙁

The question is, what is the likelihood of a side effect vs. the potential harm of not taking the medication? That is what doctors determine for just about any medication.

Hello. That was not my point. It was to alert people on bisphosphonates to be aware of this side effect. I am going to be tested for hyperparathyroidism, in the near future. I was the one to Google my symptoms, and then Google causes. I was prescribed SSRIs. I was the one, once again, to save myself, Not My Doctors!

Maybe I still haven't made myself clear. I am not on bisphosphonates. I just wanted to let people who were, to be aware. None of my doctors knew of this connection. My symptoms led to blood tests that show a strong possibility. So I am on to more tests, including looking for parathyroid tumors. I hope this clears things up.

I see. Understood. Yes, you're right - we have to be our own best advocates when it comes to these medications, since it is hard to find doctors who are truly knowledgeable about them.
