biotin and PN
I was wondering if I should continue to take vitamin B7 (biotin), and then stumbled into a google search result that said high doses of biotin possibly "could improve symptoms of peripheral neuropathy by potentially protecting nerve fibers from damage." So that quote is from the google search's AI result. I searched for "biotin and peripheral neuropathy." I am suspicious of internet searches in general and high doses of anything, honestly, but this statement from the search result intrigued me. Has anyone else heard about this, or is anyone else taking biotin because of this? My curiosity is really up. Also I am hesitant to believe it, but if it is true, maybe it could help some. Like everyone I am really desperate to find anything that might help.

I don't have the pain with my neuropathy just numbness and some tingling but I take supplements that hopefully have slowed if not stopped the progression as it hasn't gotten any worse since I started taking the supplements back in 2016. I shared my neuropathy journey along with others in another discussion here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/member-neuoropathy-journey-stories-whats-yours/.
I take 20,000 mcg Biotin daily as one of the supplements for my neuropathy. Here are a couple of references that explain how it helps:
-- Biotin can be considered as a potential therapeutic for the treatment of neuropathic pain, and supplementation with this vitamin could reduce the required doses of analgesic drugs. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8216157/

Thank you! I will be reading at all of these links. In the meantime, if you have a quick recommendation for a brand of biotin that is particularly efficacious and healthy, please let me know. I just went to Vitamin Shoppe and looked at the many alternatives there and it was pretty overwhelming to try to compare. I know I need to do more reading! I was using one but now that I look at the others I suspect the one I was using was not really a pure enough product, as it has too many additives.
The biotin I take now is part of the protocol supplement package I take but prior to that I have used both Doctor's Best Biotin 10,000 mcg capsules and Nature's Bounty Biotin 10,000 mcg capsules.
