Dr. says my Gabapentin is at the maximum dose. What's next?

PreGabalin works for me whereas GabaPentin never did squat.

Have you looked into any complementary or alternative treatments to see if they might offer some relief for the neuropathy symptoms? The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy has a good list here - https://www.foundationforpn.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Complementary-and-Alternative-Treatments-Revised-2020-final.-1.pdf. They also have a list of other resources and videos for learning more about the condition - https://www.foundationforpn.org/living-well/.

How did you find a doctor who was willing to prescribe oxycodone?

REPLY

Look for pain specialist and ask other docs, nurses and friends. Also ask a pharmacist.

@cgs
3600 mg isn't the absolute max dose of Gabapentin. I've had doctors say it's side effect dependent. I knew of a guy taking 7200 mg. with no side effects.
Lyrica may be an good option. Neither on helped me.
What is you physician recommending?

Gabepetin has side effect of slowing cognition

I transitioned off Lyrica to Gaba and currently on 900mg, three times daily. A move to 1,200mg is the most the producer recommends. Doctor has me moving to Vimpat.

Good luck,

Martin
