Besides Tampa, FL, what other top places/centers for parathyroid surge
I know many here have gone to the Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa, FL. But what are some other top centers/places for parathyroid surgery, places/centers having good outcomes and where the surgeon(s) do many of these parathyroid surgeries? If you know one or some, please state the actual name of the place/center/institution rather than just the city (but both are of course fine too). Thanks

2 ReactionsTry Mayo clinic. Be sure to ask will you check all 4 glands during surgery. Is the surgery minimally invasive? (big scar or little scar). How many of these surgeries do you do a week? The more the better. Is it done as an out patient? Light anesthesia or heavy?

1 ReactionNorman. thats all. if you know norman, why would you look elsewhere. i took some serious reseach to get to them. with cvd, ckd, retinopathy, two attacks, surgeries, i can say he was the best i had. my count was at around 5000 times.
Norman would be my #1 go to!
Three weeks ago had parathyroiddectomy by Dr DeJong Loloya medical center in maywood illinois. So far so good. However, their EKG and a follow-up EKG with my internist. Both were labeled abnormal. No one said anything to me about that label. I contacted loyola and was told to see a cardiologist. Previous EKG's were normal
Why didn’t they contact you about it. That stinks that you had to call them.
I am going to the SWPARATHYROID CENTER, in Scottsdale AZ. Dr. Deva Boone offers a free quickie review and a formal 2nd opinion review and appt via video chat or phone call. She briefly explained how i went from secondary HPTH that was caused by my unknown asymptomatic congenital Celiac Disease. That is where my then dr. claimed that I was all good. WRONG. She also asked about my 5x low calcium, one time landed me in the hospital, for low calcium. She accepted a lot of the tests I already had recently done. She wants me to do a blood draw for vit D, calcium, ionized calcium and PTH on the same day.
I live in northern CA, there must be hundreds of dr.s around me, but I have had no success getting to talk to anyone with any knowledge. The few people I spoke with all required starting from scratch with all tests.
The Florida clinic has a fabulous website and interactive tools. The AZ website has great information but only one interactive tool...but I found using the tools at both sites to be very very useful.

2 ReactionsI don't know why, but every EKG/ECG I have had is labeled abnormal or borderline. All were ignored?.?? Hence, I have finally kicked one of the largest HMOs, Kaiser Permanente to the curb.
