Benefits of Tymlos

Posted by fin2025 @fin2025, 4 days ago

My doctor recently suggested I start treatment with Tymlos injection daily for 2 years. I am very skeptical about this. Do any of you have any comments on the drug or if you have used it, benefits, concerns, etc.

I have been taking Tymlos for 8 weeks now and have no side effects, except for the headache one evening and figured out that I was dehydrated.
I was diganosed with OP in September after have 2 commpression fractures, one in December last year and the other in September. Due to my T Score of -2.9 they suggested Tymlos. I have never taken and medication so I was apprehensive at first after reading all the Blogs an Online posts. But I wanted to try and get the most out of a medication if I was going to take something. Its still to early to test and still recovering from my back surgery. But as far as the Tymlos I have no side effects and issues with taking it.

My rheumatologist recommended Tymlos for me in December 2024 after my lumbar DEXA score dropped to -3.3. After being on it for 10 months, my DEXA was in the normal range in November of this year! I was told that my body responded well to the medication. However, there were challenges along the way. I could not tolerate the full dose in the beginning so I titrated down to half the dose and gradually worked my way back up to the full dose during the last 5 months of treatment.
So please be patient if you decide to proceed with Tymlos. And good luck with whatever you decide to do!

@chrisdietrich did you lift something to experience the compression fracture? My dexa score is the same as yours. I am not taking any medication.

@dvargo the first one last Dec, was from doing the Olympic Bobsled in Park City, the 2nd was from a very reatless night and then doing a really hard 70 mile ride. Which rasied a red flag with my doctor because I ride every day and this shouldn't be an issue.

@chrisdietrich Can i ask, what type of surgery did you have? Was it due to the two compression fractures?

@ltj For the first one I let it heal naturally it took about 8 weeks before I was able to ride, the 2nd one I had Kyphoplasty, this gave me instant relief, I am dealing with Kyphosis now from having 2 inside a year but going to PT and working out at home and is slowly getting better!
