AUS video

Posted by peterj116 @peterj116, Jul 21 3:14am

After seeing a number of *animations* of an artificial urinary sphincter in use, I've finally found an actual video of an actual patient using it.
(6:30 mark)

Crazy that it's so hard to find an actual video.
Oh no. A scrotum. I'm so offended. (faints)

Anyway.... activation day tomorrow. Can't wait.

I hope the activation went well and the AUS is working smoothly. Thanks for the link. There are youtubes of the installation of the AUS (one by Dr. Terlicky at Wake Forest) that shows all the anatomy but it doesn't have the detail of your link for operation.

Thanks.
The activation went ok, but my bladder thinks I still have pads & needs to relearn how to hold on.

Also, that video doesn't reveal the sound when the pump is pushed - a weird, disconcerting squelching sound as the saline solution is pushed around.
I want to hack to device to play a sound effect instead, but haven't thought of a sound effect funny enough yet.

Glad activation was ok. And hope your bladder is a quick learner!
Talking AUS? Wow! Must be an extra cost option. Mine has nothing to say, ever. Maybe your hack can get it to play “I’ll never pass this way again”?
When normal ppl ask how it works I tell them fine, but I need to stay back from microwave ovens and hope an old piston engine plane doesn’t fly low overhead.
That usually embarrasses them enough to change subject or just leave; either is good.
Seriously, video was awesome good info. Thanks!
Keep posting cause urine good company here

My AUS works great. I love it. I was able to tour Boston Scientific where the AMS700 and AMS800 are made. Very interesting to see them being made and how they work. Yay for all of their employees. Great work. We all thank you.

I’m experiencing the same or similar sound … kind of let’s know my device is activated. Very happy with the AUS and hope it lasts a long time!
