atypical microscopic colitis symptoms

Posted by lgribble @lgribble, Jan 10 6:29pm

My diagnosis is microscopic colitis. I was treated with Budsonide and it alleviated some of the discomfort. I do not have loose or constipated bowels and have not for five years. I use intermittent fasting and work toward staying away from the affecting foods (8 so far). More and more foods are entering the picture and my biggest issue is painful muscles, joints, and tissue connections. Does anyone else have atypical symptoms associated with this disease?

I’m impressed that you are in such control of your symptoms.
I also had the same diagnosis years ago. It did not return after initial treatment. However, I have another type of autoimmune GI disorder on and off.
I have not read about the painful musculoskeletal symptoms you describe.
Have you brought this up with your PCP? Of course, if you have experienced one autoimmune illness you could also develop another one.
I have myself dealt with Fibromyalgia on and off- pain around joints and muscle soreness.
A Rheumatologist could examine you and order appropriate tests if needed.
Let’s see if other members have experienced similar symptoms.

Thank you. I have a rheumatologist looking into it, just hoping it isn't something else.
