Aromatase Inhibitors: Did you decide to go on them or not?
Nanaloves: I’m about to start arimidex and just feel that the contraindications , bone issues etc. are overwhelming. I’m 70 years old, dodged a bullet I feel with zero stage DCIS but the follow up is pretty much no different then if it was more aggressive. I’ve just done 33 treatments of radiation and now they advise arimidex as a preventative. I’m not sure with the beginnings of arthritis and lower back. sensitivity already that I should take it. Anyone not take it and not have a recurrence within the 5 years.

@yahomich All my foot pain went away after I stopped the medicine. It definitely was related it took a few months to feel better after I stopped it.
@mom23boys Hi Peggie, With me it was just one ache after another until I couldn't take it any more. Making the decision to stop the medicine was much different than yours and easier because I was stage 1. It's amazing what people go through and they just keep plugging along. God bless you I'll keep you in my thoughts. Jeannie
Hi jeannie. Before I could respond Yahomich noted her plantar fasciitis. I'm on Letrozole, another AI. About 9 months in I had the painful arch pain. I had to roll my feet on the carpet to loosen them just to stand up and then walk slowly until it eased. It was written off as simply plantar fasciitis. Funny thing is about 4 months later it disappeared as quickly as it had arrived. I swear it's another side effect. I also had slight joint pains in my knees, back, 7 months in that have mostly resolved. I'm at 20 months.The only lingering is hair thinning. Started at 7 months, stopped after about 2, and has slightly re-started. I'm in this for the long haul as a stage 4 "denovo" BC. I think sometimes that's why things don't bother me as much because I don't really have a choice.
Peggie
Hi, have you gone to a foot specialist? I did and have planters fasciitis, I have gotten custom orthotics right around Christmas and I can say for the most part I am pain free now. I can't walk barefoot too good yet but I think in time I will be able to as well. Also vionic makes great shoes for it if thats what you get diagnosed with.
@wyngnit Severe calf pain and the bottom of my feet. The pain was so bad I would waddle when I walked. I don't know if it has anything to do with the meds making it worse but I generally have random aches and pains anyway. I wonder if there is a connection.
I take Ai at night. Leg knee tendon soreness
I try to stay active and eat plant based most days sleep is difficult unless I work out during day
I use KEY-E suppositories for vaginal dryness

Great weight lose! That helps everything
@elizm My oncotype score was low so I felt more at ease making my decision. Everyone has to weigh all their options and pray for the best.
I am off of them. No longer running in fear.
I might get it back, but more importantly, I might not.
@jeannie53
I would love to go off of them... really would as I've had so many troublesome side effects... but as you know, none of us are cancer-free (we're only in remission) and that's like a Sword of Damocles which always is hanging over my head.
I’m 69 fogginess is just part of trying to remember why I went to this room to get something! I am a retired speech pathologist and I can assure you that now and see the first to go in any memory loss
