Arimidex vs anastrozole

Posted by trinhttt @trinhttt, Feb 5 10:45pm

Has anyone tried brand name Arimidex to see if side effects are reduced? I am on anastrozole and have many of the side effects. I am wondering if switching to the brand helps with side effects. TIA

Yes, but does generic cause more side effects than brand? The active ingredient is the same but generic may have different components not like the brand. I just want to see if brand is better tolerated or not. My body aches everywhere.

I found it to be much better; much reduced side effects of joint discomfort and insomnia. It can be purchased at online Eagle Pharmacy for 60.00/ month including shipping- no insurance so out of pocket . Your onco team can set it up with the pharmacy. Sealed Bottles FAR from expiration date and come from Brand manufacturer of Arimidex! My onco doc suggested this option to me… otherwise 1,700./ month at cVS.

I agree that they are not exactly the same, sometimes the reactions can vary even from one brand generic to another. Sometimes just the fillers are the problem. It certainly is worth a try.
Depending on your insurance there are quite a few mail in pharmacies as well as on line pharmacies that you could price check. Although my insurance covered almost all of it. I had a 25.00 copay. If you have VA, they typically have a standard, very low co pay as well.
Have you talked to your pharmacist about this?

Thanks. I spoke to my oncologist and he will send in a prescription. I will have to wait to see if insurance pays for it.
