Appointment at Mayo Clinic in Florida
Tried to get appointment and was told they had none. I will call back every month. Would I be able to get in quicker if I am referred by my doctor?

It sure can't hurt.
Someone at Mayo Clinic should have told you (unless you didn't ask) if you needed a referral to be seen by one of their doctors. It's pretty standard that a referral is required at those major high-demand medical sites.
I was referred by my local neurologist to Stanford's Autonomic Disorders clinic, and even with that referral I had to wait 8 months for my appointment. Now it's another 3 months for the testing appointment. So pretty much a year of waiting from the time I was referred.
