Anyone with Experience Getting a Double J Stent With Prostate Surgery

My prostectomy is scheduled for September 2rd. During my most recent televisit with my Urologist, he said - depending on the condition of the bladder neck - he may install a Double J Stent to help the bladder and urethra heal better. Is there anyone who had experience with this stent?

If you end up with a stent be sure they tell you how long you will have to have it in place. I had one for a kidney stone that was blocking my ureter. It was not the most pleasant feeling.

Also there is a pill you can take that will numb your urinary area so you won't feel it. You will also want to make sure they knock you out with anesthesia when they remove the stent otherwise I've heard the yank it out in the office through your penis.

The whole stent thing freaked me out but I got through it because I had the numbing pill and it was removed in my f/u kidney stone lithotripsy procedure. Just my two cents...for what it is worth

Thank you @capatov for sharing your experience. Your response gave me some excellent ideas of what to ask my urologist before and after my the surgery - if he plans to, or ends up placing the double J stent.
